Diary Series: Gregg Gottlieb, Asst. Coach - California

I can't believe the season is here!

We have had a much different offseason than most programs.  We started out with a foreign tour to Scandinavia.  What an amazing experience.  This was my first time on a foreign tour and any reservation I had about going disappeared soon after we landed in Stockholm, Sweden.

We had such a great time.  I was able to bring my family which made it even more fun.  The team really became a close knit group after spending 10 days traveling the world.  And, oh by the way... we played five games as well!  Hopefully that experience will give us an advantage as we enter this season.

We also had a huge reality check a few weeks ago when Coach Montgomery had surgery to remove a cancerous polyp found on his bladder.  He was extremely fortunate that they caught it at the right time.  But it also put things into perspective.  We all get so caught up in the team, recruiting or the next opponent that we can overlook taking care of ourselves.

Now we are about to get into the season and I know like most teams at this point, they can't wait to get started.  We have three games in five days and then we are off to Kansas City to play in the CBE Classic against Georgia.

We think we can be a pretty good team, but after our first five games we should have a better idea of who we are and what we are capable of achieving this season.
