February in Chapel Hill usually means winning and looking toward the future as we get ready for the stretch run and the road to the Final Four. This year is different. We are concerned about today and what can be done to improve our team every day. Paramount is how to manage things at the present.

Welcome to 2010! Okay, so you start the season on such a high, winning the national championship and celebrating the 100th year of basketball at the University of North Carolina. Things are going great. But wait, we all have forgotten that we lost Ty Lawson, Tyler Hansbrough, Wayne Ellington and Danny Green. I think Carolina Nation forgot as well until game days began. What a hard slap in the face reality can be at times.

Christmas is always a challenge for college coaches. I am very fortunate to work for Roy Williams because he believes in giving our team a few days off for the holidays. He doesn't like to schedule a game so close to Christmas so that our team would not have a chance to go home for at least a couple of days.

It's a great day to be a Tar Heel! The Season is well underway. A lot of exciting moments are both behind us and in front of us. We closed out the fall recruiting with a bang receiving three National Letters of Intent from a very talented group of young men.

On Oct. 16th college basketball officially began. We kicked off the hoops season in one of the most entertaining ways you can. Our players performed skits and dance routines to a variety of songs (speaking of which, my nephew, Cadi-mac, did the rap on a couple of hot tunes for the event). Lots of laughter and a great crowd for the event. UNC and Late Night with Roy continues to be a big hit with the Tar Heel Nation.
