NCDS: Jeff Tungate, Assoc. Head Coach - Oakland ("REPEAT!")
Another successful season has just been completed at Oakland University. We finished the season 25-10, while capturing the Summit League regular season and tournament championships for the second consecutive year. Despite a tough four-point loss to Texas in the NCAA tournament, we are really proud of what this team accomplished. Our team worked extremely hard all year and they were a real pleasure to coach.
The toughest part of any season is saying goodbye to your seniors. Over the course of four years, those seniors become a part of your family. We are so proud of our seniors Larry Wright, Will Hudson, and Keith Benson. What they have accomplished in their time at Oakland University is truly amazing. All three are exceptional basketball players, but more importantly, they are exceptional people. They will succeed in whatever path they take in life.
Without those seniors, it’s time for our returners to step up. We return a great group of players with a great work ethic. I really believe in the saying “there comes a time when winter asks, what did you do all summer?” If our returning players continue their great off season work habits, we have a chance to return to the NCAA tournament again next season. I really believe you get what you deserve…our players need to work extremely hard so they deserve success once again.
It has been a real pleasure writing with College Chalktalk once again this season. I look forward to joining the Diary Series once again in the fall. Until then, thank you for reading and I hope we were able to give our fans a greater inside look at Oakland Basketball.
Go Grizzlies!
