March is here and we are leaving for Las Vegas today for the WCC Tournament. Our tournament moved to a neutral site last year and it was an exciting time in the Orleans Arena with a sold out crowd and this year is sold out as well. In my opinion, March is the best month of the year and so many things happen and change in our profession in just one month.
Marc Trasolini, who was named honorable mention All WCC this year is from Vancouver and gave all of our fans a first hand look into the Winter Olympics with a segment on our website called "Traz Tid-Bits." Marc's family went to the opening and closing ceremonies and Marc gave our fans an inside look into Canada and his thoughts on the Olympics. It was very popular with our fans as each interview also featured pictures from his family's experiences in Vancouver as well.
We play San Diego in the first round of the tournament and we split with them this season. Our guys are confident going into the game because in our last meeting at their place we beat them by 16 points and played well. However, we stress to our team that this is our 3rd season and everyone has a new start. We talk to our team about our non-conference schedule being our 1st season, our conference season is our 2nd season, and our tournament is our third. In all of those, every team has a new start and your season can change very quickly with a few wins.
I would like to wish everyone the best in their post season and hope to see everyone at the Final 4!
In hoops,
Coach Kerns
