NCDS: Scott Spinelli, Asst. Coach - Texas A&M
Currently in Aggieland we are in the home stretch of our Big 12 regular season schedule. The last month or so has been a rollercoaster that has been filled with some very emotional highs and lows. We as a coaching staff try to emphasize that these highs and lows are just part of being in the very competitive Big 12.
After losing three straight games, our team has regained some of our “mojo” back after winning on the road at Colorado and Texas Tech. There is such a fine line between winning and losing that there is no question that winning close games is the key to having a successful season. Often times confidence is one of the biggest factors in determining winning and losing these games, and anytime your dealing with 18,19, and 20 years olds there can be a loss of confidence at anytime during the season. It is our jobs as coaches to help them maintain the level of confidence needed to overcome adversity.
Over the last five games BJ Holmes has really been productive. Nathan Walkup has provided a consistent boost for us. We have gotten solid contributions from Khris Middleton and David Loubeau as well as our bench. We still believe that our team is capable of playing at even a higher level and we are starting to pick up momentum as we near the month of March.
Sitting at 7-4 in the Big 12 we are currently in 3rd place and 2 games behind Kansas for second. We are aiming for our 6th consecutive NCAA tournament bid. Coach Turgeon just moved into second place all time in career wins at Texas A&M. In just four years we have won 93 games and our guys believe they can win every game they play.
Hopefully we continue to stay healthy and focused on our goal of making the NCAA tournament and striving to win a National Title.
