Things are going very well for the Winthrop Eagles right now. We have won eight of our last nine games and our record is now 13-10 and 9-4 in the Big South. We have won five straight games since our game with UNC Asheville. Three of those wins have come on the road against Gardner-Webb, VMI and Liberty.

After a rigorous non-conference schedule that has included games against Clemson, Cincinnati, Charlotte and North Carolina State, we are now preparing to jump back into conference play this weekend. After 12 games, we now have a real good idea of what we need to do in order to compete for our league title-continue to work hard defensively, improve our shooting percentage and play stronger inside with the ball.

I trust that everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving. It is always great to spend time with family and friends. We actually gave our team two days for Thanksgiving, because we had a week off. That was the first time in 26 years of coaching that I have had two days off.

We have just completed our second full week of practice. Our effort has been very good in practice. I can tell you that we have worked very hard on the defensive end of the floor. We do 3 defensive stations pretty much every day for 5 minutes each. We have a total of 12 stations, so at the start of the 5th day we start all over.
